Dogtown Athletic's Boxing program teaches the fundamentals of traditional boxing in a safe, fun, and energetic environment. We focus on proper footwork, punch techniques and combinations, as well as the strength and conditioning necessary to compete at the amateur and professional levels. We cater to all levels of experience from beginners wanting to get fit and learn how to throw a punch to seasoned professionals preparing for their next fight. We also offer a youth boxing program for children interested in learning how to box.
Even if you have no desire to fight, boxing is a great cardiovascular activity that will test your limits both physically and mentally. It is a great way to release stress and tension and get you in great shape at the same time. After 6 weeks of training, you will notice a significant difference in your body's fitness level and endurance. It's intensity will help speed up your metabolism burn more fat, and get tone without the fear of bulking up. This is why it has become the go to workout for supermodels everywhere. And most importantly, it will boost your self-esteem and inner confidence.
We offer daily classes that range from beginners wanting to learn the basic skills to advanced boxers preparing for competitions. We have a full-sized regulation ring, multiple heavy bags, speed bags, and a great group of athletes to take you to the next level. Sparring is by invitation only but for those serious about learning how to box, we highly encourage participation. As they say, Heavy Bags don’t punch back.
Our head boxing trainer is middleweight champion, Tony "Go Get'em" Hirsch. Tony has won the WBC-USNBC Middleweight title and the IBU World Middleweight title and is still an active professional prize fighter. He is one of World Super Middleweight Champion Andre Ward's main sparring partners and has spent the past decade working with Andre in his quest to be the world's pound-for-pound best fighter.
Dogtown is a member of US Boxing Association, Northern California Branch, LBC #38, under the name Dogtown Boxing Club. We currently have a number of up and coming amateur fighters ready to turn pro and plan on hosting many local boxing events at our facility.
